We were skeptical about opening day because we haven’t seen a ton of birds around our area. We have spent numerous mornings and nights scouting local fields. We decided to set up shop on a farmer’s green field close to home were we have seen some honkers land the last few days. We set our decoys in small family pods of about 5 of 6 birds. The wind was about 5 miles an hour coming out of the south east. We were targeting the smaller groups of birds because there were only 3 of us hunting. We ended the hunt with 10 birds which was 10 more than opening day last year. We were happy with the way this season has started out and look forward to many more successfully hunts.
